“Being an artist isn’t so much learning to become something, it is learning to remember”

Looking back at the art from my youth and early 20’s amazes me. At the time I remember not thinking much of my creations, thinking they weren’t good enough or didn’t have a compelling enough presence. Now, as an adult, I treasure these raw explorations. Each pencil stroke, each brush stroke, captures angst, exploration, sensuality, discovery, idealism and mysticism. Some of the themes were already in my blood and will always be such as the fae, mermaids, spirituality, sensuality and color. Art, after all, is expression and what is more expressive than the boldness of youth?
